2010 Summer Teacher Training

July 19-23, 2010

Rockbridge Academy's Summer Teacher Training is endorsed by the Association of Classical and Christian Schools (ACCS) and is intended for the first year teacher, those who are just beginning in the field of classical and Christian education, or those who desire a refresher course.

Training Location/Gettysburg Field Trip

This year's Training will be held at Severn Run Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1624 Millersville Road, Millersville, MD 21108 (just around the corner from the school).  The conference will include an optional field trip to Gettysburg National Military Battlefield Park on Monday, July 19th from 7am-6pm, and will incur an additional $45 fee per attendee.  The cost of the field trip includes a National Defense University-trained docent, a study guide, continental breakfast, lunch, and transportation.   Formal  teacher training begins at Severn Run EP Church on Tuesday, July 20th.  The conference will include plenary sessions that will address broad areas of vision, focus, and application of classical and Christian education from a biblical worldview.  Workshops will cover a variety of topics of particular interest to the classical Christian educator at the Grammar, Dialectic, and Rhetoric levels.  The workshops will include a valuable balance between broad philosophy and practical nuts and bolts.  Training will include video recordings of actual classroom instruction, management, and organization at Rockbridge Academy.

Cost/Registration Information

The training fee is $200 per person if received on or before June 21, 2010 ($150 per person if three or more attendees per school).  Registration fees are $250 per person if received after June 21, 2010 (no discount for multiple attendees).  Sorry, there is no childcare provided.  Cost includes:  Training notebook, all handouts and materials, and lunch on Tuesday, July 20th.
